Mr Paul Hughes
Paul Hughes is a graduate of Australian Catholic University and The Victorian College of the Arts holding a Bachelor of Music and a Graduate Diploma in Opera. Paul has performed as a principal artist for Opera Australia, Victorian Opera, Oz Opera, Cameron Macintosh, Really Useful Group, Production Co, Chamber Made Opera, Operalive, Stopera, Co-Opera SA, Promac, and as vocal soloist for The Australian Ballet's Carmina Burana/ Fauré Requiem seasons. In recital and as a chamber musician Paul has performed widely at festivals including Melbourne International Festival, Singapore Arts festival, Hong Kong New Vision Arts Festival, Castlemaine and Port Fairy Festivals. In live broadcast for ABC FM and Radio National, and as a soloist for The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria, and The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. Paul performs regularly with Opera Australia in solo and ensemble, most recent projects being Rigoletto and Don Carlos, Songlines of the Hearts Desire by Richard Mills, song cycle for soprano and baritone performed with Merlyn Quaife, the role of 'Jep' in Showboat for Production Company, and the world premiere of Experimenta's cutting edge spectacular, A Drone Opera.
